The world around you is a fascinating place. The more you dig for answers, the more questions you discover!
From the largest animals on every continent to unusual biomes, The World Around Us is intended to be a high-interest access point for learners from 1 to 100. Interactives, infographics, displays and specimens tie the Museum’s Permanent Exhibit Halls directly to the state educational standards.

Admission price includes access to all HMNS Permanent Exhibit Halls except certain Special Exhibitions and the Brown Hall of Entomology. Access to the Brown Hall of Entomology is included with admission to the Cockrell Butterfly Center.

Nicole Temple, Vice President of Education, is the powerhouse behind “Sharks! The Meg, The Monsters & The Myths.” A seasoned educator and skilled curator, she transforms complex science into thrilling adventures for the 400,000+ students that HMNS receives annually. From the depths of curriculum development to the peaks of taxidermy, she’s as versatile as the sharks she brings to life.
