Carolyn Sumners, VP of Astronomy and Adam Barnes, producer for the Burke Baker Planetarium, will share insights into the year’s top space news and upcoming events. A calendar of celestial events with observation tips is included.
Meet the Speakers
Dr. Carolyn Sumners is a pioneer in space education. Her tenure at HMNS includes training NASA astronauts on star fields in the museum’s Burke Baker Planetarium, developing the Expedition Center (formerly Challenger Center) which takes students on missions to the Moon and Mars, designing portable planetariums to bring the wonders of the museum to students unable to travel to the museum on field trips, and upgraded the Burke Baker Planetarium to be the first 8K planetarium in the world.
Adam Barnes is an accomplished planetarium animation director with over 17 years of experience creating immersive full-dome shows and original content, including production from concept to final cut. Known for his seamless blend of scientific accuracy and artistic vision, Adam brings the wonders of the universe to audiences of all ages.
